The Atlanta Jazz Festival received the 2009 Greener Festival Award.

The Atlanta Jazz Festival is committed to sustainability in areas of recycling/waste and residuals, transportation, energy, event administration and operation.  Each year, the Atlanta Jazz Festival will concentrate, add and evaluate various sustainable features to the festival.

We are continuously striving to produce a first-in-class festival with the least amount of negative impact on our environment. Our goals reflect our efforts in this regard.

2012 GOALS

  • Reduction in printed collateral by using online mediums – Website, Facebook, Twitter
  • All printed collateral on recycled paper
  • Recycling Center – deposit center for cans and plastic beverage containers – ReMix Recycling
  • Biodiesel recycling plan for waste vegetable oil from Food Vendors will be required to use paper products versus Styrofoam
  • Eco-friendly Transportation Promotion:  Public Transit, car pooling, walking & bike riding
  • Partner in Transportation:  MARTA
  • Partner in lodging:  Loews Atlanta Hotel
  • Partners in information distribution:

Jazz Eco Village is an initiative of the Atlanta Jazz Festival. The Festival is produced by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, a division of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.
