MARTA Monday at Five Points Station Featuring the Jacob Deaton Trio
May 6 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pmFree
Atlanta-based guitarist and singer/songwriter Jacob Deaton is commanding a busy and varied career as both sideman and leader. For over a decade, he has been in high demand from multiple circles and is equally comfortable in the worlds of jazz, blues, rock, and Americana. He has served as the guitarist for L.A. blues rocker Jonah Smith, with whom he made a semi-finals appearance on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, and for Col. Bruce Hampton, the long-revered Southern blues surrealist with whom Jacob tours regularly. His other performance credits include Derek Trucks, Jimmy Herring, Oteil Burbridge and more.
As a jazz artist and bandleader, Jacob has released three original albums, toured Europe, and performed on the main stage of the Atlanta Jazz Festival in 2013. He has recieved critical acclaim from publications including Jazz Times and All About Jazz as a unique voice on the rise in the world of jazz guitar.
2015 marked the beginning of Jacob’s development as a singer/songwriter. He made his debut as an Americana front man to a sold-out crowd at Eddie’s Attic, the legendary Atlanta proving ground that served as incubator for artists like John Mayer, Ani DiFranco, Shawn Mullins and The Civil Wars. In 2016, Jacob is poised to record his first full-length album of original songs and plans to tour nationally in support of it later in the year and beyond.
